Native New Yorker Allison Melnick fell in love with the club life at an age when most kids are content with the simple pleasures of Saturday morning cartoons. “I knew I was made for this in 1977 when I was 6 years old and watching ‘Saturday Night Fever’ for the first time,” the nightlife empressario says. It was a mere decade later that she started navigating her way through the city’s legendary club scene – and she has never looked back.

Drawn to the music, fashion, and urban energy of stories Manhattan nightclubs like the Limelight and the Palladium, Melnick, who was raised on Long Island, scored her first club job when she was pulled out of a velvet-rope line one night and offered a chance to work. She immediately began to hone her promotional skills, quickly becoming an expert in social networking and club management.

In 1992, while working at some of New York’s hottest clubs and lounges, Melnick graduated from Parsons School of Design and took a job with fashion icon Betsey Johnson as an accessories designer. After four years with Johnson, Melnick made another move, this time into the area of public relations, helping produce runway shows and special events for A-list designers and celebrities.

Her work in clubs and the fashion world helped her build an impressive rolodex – a resource that served her well in her next job, working alongside P. Diddy at the hip-hop artist and producer’s Bad Boy Entertainment. Arriving at the job in 2000, Melnick spent two years with the music label’s marketing department, launching brands, generating buzz, and organizing record release parties.

Melnick’s next move was westward. With her impressive resume, agency representation, and a long-term goal of hosting her own events, Melnick took a position with well-known Hollywood prmoter Brent Bolthouse, of Lobby and Privilege fame. In Los Angeles, Melnick again worked her magic, becoming one of the best and best-known party promoters on the scene, working with clubs from Concorde to Nacional, as well as exclusive events for the Grammys and Hollywood’s biggest night: the Oscars.

A natural in front of the camera, in 2004, Melnick successfully segued into an on-screen career, using her experience and knowledge of the club business to serve as the centerpiece of Spike TV’s “The Club.”

With the launch of Apple Lounge, Melnick made her most exciting career move yet. Joining forces with Chef Bryan Ogden and choreographer Robin Antin, whose Pussycat Dolls Lounge is located adjacent to Apple, Melnick brought her passion for music to the fore, with handpicked DJs spinning “old school hip-hop, ‘80’s – my guilty pleasure – disco, and, of course, my favorite: good ol’ classic rock n’ roll.”

Her vision of Apple as a “tribute to New York City” means that LA’s party people will get to experience the divinely decadent vibe of that city’s most celebrated clubs right here at home. She in known for creating an exclusive scene where models, socialites, actors and in-the-know nightlife aficionados can “eat great food, listen to dope music, dance, or just floss and look at all the pretty face.” Melnick adds with a mischievious smile: “Apple Lounge will be the place to be…. If you get past the velvet rope, that is.”

Allison is busy working on opening her latest venture---launching her second club and continues to dominate the LA party scene, and of course, always by her side is her real life BFF, Paris Hilton. Allison and Paris can be seen alongside Brooke Mueller and Jennifer Rovero in Oxygen's newest reality show, tentatively titled "The World According to Paris", which follows the girls lives, love, travel, and beyond.

On a recent trip to the US around Valentines Day, we found that the US has lots of love for Backstage!

In Los Angeles, we passed by Diavolina on 3rd Street, and found their window full of Backstage! Love, love the Robert Palmer-esque look! The keyboardist is wearing our lace Galactic dress, 2 guitar players are in the velvet Zoe, and another guitarist in the sequin 3am. Simply irresistible!
